Skin Needling is an exciting new treatment which has been shown to:

- Smooth Wrinkles and fill deep lines
- Improve Skin Texture
- Relax Scars
- Improve the appearance of depressed Acne Scarring
- Improve the appearance of Stretch Marks
- Improve the appearance of depressed surgical scars

Skin Needling is also known as Facial Mesotherapy or Collagen Induction Therapy.  It has similar results to Laser, Chemical Peels and Dermabrasion but is far less invasive, which translates to a far lower risk of complications and quick recovery time.  Improvement in the appearance of scars and lines is achieved through a series of Skin Needling treatments, spaced 2-3 months apart.

How is it done?

Skin Needling and Facial Mesotherapy is most easily performed using a rotory, coil or roller tools. The Skin is worked with the tool causing multiple tiny pin point puncture wounds to the dermis. This mild dermal damage induces the release of growth factors that stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin.  New collagen production is the object of ALL skin resurfacing and rejuvenation treatments.
Skin Needling creates dermal damage without the removal of the healthy epidermis, which happens with other resurfacing techniques.

Because the epidermis is left intact so the healing period is rapid. The skin does not risk permanent structural damage, sun sensitivity, skin colour loss or hyper-pigmentation.

What areas of the skin can be treated?
Skin Needling can be performed on the face, body and scalp as well as sensitive areas that other treatments have to avoid, such as below the eyes, the neck and the back of hands.

Healing - How much time does it take to recover from a Skin Needling Treatment?
After in clinic Skin Needling treatments the skin is red and swollen for one to two days with a light grazing over the treated area appearing on day two.  Most patients are able to return to work and normal activities within 48 hours of treatment. Multiple treatments are usually necessary to achieve significant improvement in the appearance and depth of lines and scars.  Treatment effects are cumulative and will usually be seen within 6-8 weeks of each treatment.  In comparison to prolonged recovery time from laser resurfacing and chemical peels, the short recovery following Skin Needling makes it an excellent alternative method of improving lines and scars.

What kind of results can be expected?
Results vary between patients, with some patients achieving 90%+ improvement in scarring and others, less than 50%. All patients achieve some improvement.

All patients require multiple treatments to achieve satisfactory results.

How much does it cost?
In clinic Skin Needling treatments do vary according to the type of treatment required and the extent of scarring.
